100 Happy Days – Day 93

2014-06-04 21.25.03I have to admit, it’s been hard to find a topic for today’s Happy Days photo. Today has been hard. In the end though I decided on this picture, which may seem odd.

It’s a picture of the injection site from this morning’s blood tests. Why? Well, for one thing, it didn’t hurt, which is a major step forward for me. My veins didn’t collapse – another positive. I didn’t faint, or get dizzy, or cause the nurse to be alarmed and insist I sit in the waiting room sipping water for ten minutes. All of these things featured regularly in blood tests of the past.

And as you can see from the picture, the bruising is minimal. A few years ago, the bruise would have been six inches long.

We are making progress!

  1. So glad that your blood test went well.

  2. I use to take blood as a job! I had lots of coments from people saying how gentle and kind I was doing it! Well done on surving it!

  3. Just the sound of an injection makes me want to pass out. I have tried over the years to overcome it but nope nothing nada I am still scared shitless x

    • I was in the same boat, and getting worse, truth be told. I used to be OK, but then when I was going through the diagnosis for FMS, my veins started collapsing and making tests incredibly painful, which is when it all began.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had gestational diabetes and had to do finger prick tests 4 times a day and inject insulin 4 times a day too. After she was born I had to inject blood thinners as well – that went a long way to getting me over my fear!

  4. Hi Mahala – that sounds distinctly healthier and I’m so pleased for you .. cheers Hilary
