Calling All Etsy Owners in the UK

Do you run a business with an Etsy shop? Are you living in the UK?  I need you!

Late last year, as I took my wares to various craft markets, I struggled. As you might know if you read this blog regularly, I have Fibromyalgia and that, combined with the craft markets, nearly finished me off at the end of last year.  Working with a chronic illness is hard.

And of course it occurred to me that there are many, many people in the same boat. People running their own craft based business (which is hard enough for anybody) with the added difficulty of a chronic illness or a disability to cope with, making everything that bit harder.

And then it occurred to me that it might be nice to promote the work of crafters with illness or disability, to show that they are capable of amazing, beautiful work, despite the extra obstacles they have to overcome. And that those crafters might also appreciate being able to chat with others in the same boat, supporting each other along the way.

And so I started an Etsy team called ACID UK – Artisans with Chronic Illness or Disability. It’s intended as somewhere to go for support, but also to promote the work of its members. I have lots planned, including a Meet the Maker series of blog posts over on my business blog to showcase the owners of these amazing businesses.

And that’s where you come in. We need more members, we need to contact those people on Etsy who could join us. We need to get the word out. We need some members willing to take on a small leadership role to keep getting the word out about the group and our work. And we need people who want to have their work showcased.  Do you fit the bill? Come and join us! Know someone who does? Let them know about us! Do you have a twitter account, a facebook page, a blog? Help us get the word out to help as many people as we possibly can.

Please and thank you.
