100 Happy Days – Day 75

722297727120672095_2416632The final day of the Barefoot Books Ambassador Conference saw another 7.45am start, another boatload of caffeine (hazelnut latte for me this morning!) and more photography from the lovely Amy – this time group shots, complete with paper flowers in our hair!

722297043398788436_2416632Saturday was full on – the keynote speech from Mary Christensen, as well as a further workshop from her later in the day, leaders’ panels, in which several leaders (including me) answered questions about their business, a social media whirlwind workshop and then ….

we got to meet Debbie Harter – one of Barefoot’s most popular illustrators. She showed us original artwork from Animal Boogie and Portside Pirates, two of our bestsellers, both of which she illustrated. She told us about how she became a Barefoot illustrator, having started out selling handmade jewellery at Camden Lock. And she treated us to a dance – Debbie is a belly dance teacher and performed a pirate inspired belly dance, dressed as a pirate!

A quick break, and then it was on to yet another restaurant – this time The Vaults in central Oxford. We mingled outside whilst sampling several fairytale inspired cocktails and then had a beautiful meal, plenty of wine and then finally, another treat …

the wonderful, elegant, captivating Xanthe Gresham performed some of her storytelling for us. She was very funny, and very moving, and it was a joy to see. I was lucky enough to be able to chat with her briefly at the end of the evening and hope to be able to make it to see some of her Goddess performances sometime soon.
