100 Happy Days – Day 2

fractionactionBean asked if we could do some maths this afternoon. But he was quite specific; he didn’t want to use Mathletics or Khan Academy, which is what we use for most of our “formal” maths, he wanted to play snap. More specifically, he wanted to play Fraction Action Snap, which is a card game I bought him a while ago, but we have never got round to playing.

So we played. And we played, And then we played some more. And amongst all this playing, we were giggling like mad – we really had fun together. Even PK joined in – finding the shouting of “snap” hilarious.

The cards show a variety of fractions expressed in different ways. You have to find two cards that express the same fraction.

I love the fact that he was learning whilst we were playing this, but even more, seeing him so carefree and happy and having us both laughing together was fabulous.

Incidentally, I won the first game. The second game lasted forever as the cards went back and forwards several time, but Bean won in the end. And then we played pairs with the cards and Bean beat me hands down at that.
