Matilda Mae Memorial Auction
I suspect that many people reading this will already know about Matilda Mae, but I know some won’t.
On February 2 this year, Jennie from Edspire put her nine month old daughter to bed as normal. Within a few short hours, Matilda Mae had fallen asleep forever. I cannot imagine the pain the family have gone through, are still going through. Every time I think about it, I find myself in tears, and I don’t know Jennie or her family, even in passing on the internet. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. I have been nothing but impressed by the strength Jenny has shown though, and have hurt for her when her pain has shown.
Jennie and her family are determined to keep Matilda Mae’s memory alive and create a legacy for her. They have organised a special auction to raise funds for The Lullaby Trust, the UK’s leading baby charity aiming to prevent unexpected deaths in infancy and promote infant health.
The Lullaby Trust funds research into SIDS, as well as providing bereavement support for families affected by it and helping them when/if they have another child in the future. It’s important work.
The auction will take place between 11 and 20 May, and at the time of writing, 68 companies have donated goods and services for the auction. Please do visit and consider making a bid to help this incredible cause.
