Should have gone to…
One day last week my husband received a letter from Specsavers. At least he sort of did. His name was in the addressee area of the letter but it began “Dear Mr [insert random name here]”.
My husband was a bit bemused but since the details in the body of the letter were all correct he wasn’t bothered at all. He tweeted a redacted version of the letter with the ironic comment “should have gone to Specsavers” and thought no more about it.
Later that day, he received a call from Specsavers saying they’d realised they’d made a mistake and could they offer him a free pair of designer glasses by way of an apology?
And so it was that a two days later I found myself trying on specs. Hubby already has four pairs of specs whereas I have one, out of date pair that doesn’t fit properly. I got an up to date prescription, having found out I was now eligible for a free sight test since my sight is now so bad.
I tried on lots of styles, ummed, ahhed and narrowed it down to three and then felt completely incapable of making a decision. I trekked back the next day with my family to get more opinions. We turned it into a photo shoot for your delight and delectation.
- Armani frames. One of my final 3. I decided against them and not just because of this photo
- Jasper Conran. Discarded twice due to the pattern on the side
- Karen Millen – tried on for the photo opportunity
- Jasper Conran. One of my final three. Still really like these
- Gok Wan style. Who would look good in these? Maybe you have to be naked
- Osiris frames. Another design only tried on for the blog
- More Karen Millen.
- Red or Dead. No idea what the face was about. Modelled only for the blog!
- one of my final three, quickly discarded due to sparkly bits on the top.
- Karen Millen. Didn’t like them
- Osiris frames
- FCUK – not one of my final three, but the ones I eventually went for
