A Purist Christmas

And by Purist, I mean in a chocolate sense of course.

I love chocolate, it’s no secret. I love lots of different types of chocolate. I have spent the week making different flavoured chocolates and truffles to give away as gifts. Most of all though, I love good, *really good* quality, unadulterated chocolate.

But that’s not very Christmassy is it? Today, I found the answer – The Purist Wreath from Hotel Chocolat. As wreaths go, this is beautiful. Perhaps not very practical for hanging on the front door, although it might keep the postie going during Advent if you allow him to have a quick nibble every day. Anyway, I digress.

The Purist Wreath

The Purist Wreath is made from good, *really good* quality dark chocolate; award-winning 66% Rabot Estate dark chocolate. When it comes to chocolate, and tea and coffee for that matter, if you’re looking for quality, single estate is the way to go. And to add a bit of Christmas cheer it is full of red fruit, cherry, cranberry and dried fig flavours – perfectly matched with sour cherry pieces, golden raisins, crunchy pecans and hazelnuts. And it’s sooo good.

The wreath weights 450g, so there is plenty to go around. If you’re a guest at someone else’s house for Christmas Dinner this year, this wreath would make a wonderful thank you gift and there would be plenty for you all to sit and graze on well past the Queen’s speech and the Eastenders (or Downton Abbey!) Christmas special. And it even comes wrapped in tissue paper and presented in a Rabot Estate gift box.

Did I mention that it tastes good? The chocolate is really very good – that nice bitterness you get from good quality dark chocolate, which is given a hint of sweetness from the fruit and smokiness from the nuts packed into it.

Forget the tin of Roses, if you’re looking for a chocolate treat for Christmas, this is the way to go. And this wreath contains no gluten-earing ingredients, it’s vegetarian and vegan, and contains no milk, eggs or alcohol.

And now the exciting bit – we’ve got one to give away!

And the winner is….

Christopher from Sheerness. Chris wrote the following entry to win himself a Hotel Chocolat Purist Wreath:

If I won a Purist Wreath,

I would Feel the Yuletide spirit rise,
Unleash the need to share my prize,
I’d show some generosity,
And give a chunk to charity,
The rest I’d divvy, fair and square,
With friends and family everywhere,
Should I get none, I wouldn’t grieve,
It’s better to give, than to receive!

And if you believe that, you’ll believe anything! More likely there’d be chocolate heaven in bed for the wife and me! I mean it’s too good for the kids!!

Congratulations Chris!
