Eight years on

Today is my eighth wedding anniversary. Not bad for someone who was never going to get married.  We’ve been together for ten years now, and I think it’s fair to say that the odds were stacked against us at the beginning, for reasons I won’t go into.  We got through it and much more besides.  We’ve had the ups and downs life throws at you – redundancy, serious illness, two wonderful children (and all that they bring with them), and the rest.

Today’s post is a completely indulgent one, because I just wanted to say Happy Anniversary to my husband, Stonelaughter.  I love you!

I pledge ….
… that yours will be the name I cry aloud in the night
And the eyes into which I smile in the morning.
I pledge to you the first bite from my bread and the first drink  from my cup.
I pledge to honour and respect you as a unique person;
To listen to you, support you and to believe in you.
I shall be a shield for your back.
I shall not slander you, or ever intentionally hurt you.
I shall honour you above all others and keep our quarrels private.
You cannot posses me for I am my own person
But while we both wish it, I give to you that which is mine to give.

  2. Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! Grats! Is this your wedding pic? I wore black when I got married, too. Well burgundy and black. I never thought I’d get married as well. For me, I was a commitment phobe and some other reasons.
